CAMP CAMO in KONUS

"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says 'Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.'" Lewis Carroll,  Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass

Story Time!!
When I was in elementary school, all the 5th graders would go on an overnight camping trip called Outdoor Science School...or was it Camp? The exact details are a little hazy as it has been quite a long time. However, I will never forget that trip. It was my first time going somewhere without my parents, and it was my first time spending the night in the wilderness. I remember waking up in the cabins and feeling the fresh, crisp air and learning all that I could about nature and the forests. During our night hikes I'd look up at the sky and see thousands of stars. We were lucky that year cause we were able to see Saturn.

Going on this trip to Sequoia brought back fond memories of those innocent, carefree days.

I've always told myself that I wasn't a nature-y person. I despised the idea of camping, and if I were to ever go I'd go glamping instead. I didn't enjoy hikes and having the sun beam down on you. But I did love looking at nature, admiring its effortlessness and beauty.

For me, this trip was an eye-opener. I never realized how eager I was to learn about trees and animals. I've always been fond of them, but actually surrounding myself in the woods and away from the city made me appreciate what we call Mother Earth. There wasn't a care in the world during that time. All I wanted, truly, was to run up and down the pathways, staring up at these ancient and grand trees, and to fall in the snow. Everything felt so pure and sincere, something I haven't felt in a long time.

As the temperature was quite cold, I wore a turtleneck, an M-65 jacket, some ripped denim with fishnets, and sneakers. I probably should've invested in some walking/hiking shoes/boots, but to be honest... these LV sneakers have carried me to three different countries and are incredibly comfortable.
