There have been times where I missed out on spending Independence Day in America due to traveling abroad in Vietnam and South Korea. Before then I didn't realize how much this holiday meant to me. The sense of unity, family, and pride... it really made me miss home.

Growing up in Surf City, California, 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. There's this sense of unity amongst everyone that is just so heartwarming, especially in today's society... we need it. Every 4th of July morning, my mom and I would wake up extra early and ride our bikes down Pacific Coast Highway to watch the Independence Day parade unfold. Soldiers, dancers, martial artists, classic cars, councilmen, etc. all line up waiting for their turn to impress the parade-goers. After the parade, it'd typically be time to prep for afternoon festivities - whether that's a family get together or OC BLOCK PARTY, there's always lots of food and activities going on.

Despite the fun and games, dressing the part of 4th of July is probably on the top of my list. Channeling my 'Miss Independent,' I went for a red halter top with bold white "USA" written across the chest (American Pride, I suppose), denim high waisted shorts, and white patent boots.

As always, happy holidays, my love bugs! Also, check out my latest travel video!
